Coaching SuperVision

What is “Coaching SuperVision”…?

The Coaching SuperVision Process

Coaching SuperVision is a professional practice attracting increasing attention throughout the professional coaching community that supports and enhances the effectiveness and ethical standards of coaches. It’s an interaction between a trained, qualified SuperVisor and you in a reflective space - exploring your coaching practice, the challenges you’re facing, and enhancing your personal and professional development by expanding your “Vision” of the elements which have a bearing on your work.

Why would I need it?

Coaching SuperVision provides perspective

Coaching can be, and often is, stressful. We ask ourselves if we’re on the right path, if we’re doing the best we can for our clients. Coaching SuperVision provides a safe environment and conversational space for growth, reflection, and challenge between people working in the same field. Coaching SuperVision sheds perspective on some of the corners that we’re not paying attention to, enhancing our ability to work with a greater range of coaching challenges. It allows us to examine our coaching style, interventions, and impact on clients, leading to continuous growth and improvement.

Coaching SuperVision is essential for maintaining the quality and integrity of our coaching practice. It supports us in upholding ethical standards, navigating complex coaching dynamics, and ensuring the well-being of both ourselves as coaches and our clients. Ultimately, Coaching SuperVision contributes to the ongoing professional development of coaches and the advancement of the coaching profession as a whole.

Is it a professional requirement?

Coaching SuperVision- Professional Requirement

As coaching is evolving toward a structured, evidence-based, accredited profession, supervision becomes an asset for a professional coach. And, supervision hours from an ICF-accredited Coach Supervisor now count toward the CCE requirements for credential renewal. ICF recognizes Coaching Supervision as an important element of a coach’s professional development, learning and growth. ICF Credential-holders may submit up to 10 hours of Coaching Supervision (delivering or receiving) as Core Competency Continuing Coach Education (CCE) units toward their credential renewal.
